Meet Samantha C. Arrington Sliney, Esq

Samantha “Sam” Arrington Sliney is an attorney advisor with the Department of the Army and an Air National Guard JAG. She spent 10 years on active duty with the United States Air Force. She is also a military spouse and mom of three. Sam’s passions include advocating for legislative and policy change to eliminate readiness gaps impacting service members and military families as they navigate service through all phases of life. This includes parental leave parity, lactation and doula support and the establishment of provider and birth choice for pregnant persons. She serves as a delegate on the American Bar Association Legal Assistance for Military Personnel Committee and as a board member for the Military Spouse J.D. Network. She has served on the board of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys and Fayetteville Women Attorneys. Sam is a Co-Chair of the Department of the Air Force Women’s Initiative Team, where she champions initiatives that seek to eliminate barriers impacting women’s propensity to serve in the Department of Defense. A graduate of North Carolina Central University School of Law (J.D.), Western Michigan University Thomas Cooley Law School (LL.M.) and Methodist University (B.A.), Sam is admitted to practice law in Florida and the District of Columbia.

Her career pivot from clinical medicine into postpartum and maternal wellness was born from the challenges she experienced as a foreign-born U.S. military spouse navigating postpartum and motherhood while raising her children far away from family and friends.

Dr. Lau brings over 10 years of combined experience and knowledge in clinical medicine, scientific research, and public health, including her experience as an entrepreneur. She's lived in 4 different continents to date; Asia, Australia, North America, and Europe. She's also a Certified European Lifestyle Medicine Health Advisor.

While living at a duty station in Germany, she actively volunteered within the Army community and her husband’s unit’s Soldier and Family Readiness Group. She also served expecting and new parents by hosting a birth story support group and postpartum workshops. She continues to advocate for improved perinatal care and better military spouse and family support through her duty station’s Family Social Working Group and the Army Family Action Plan program.

Outside of serving MBRNPC, Dr. Lau runs her consulting and coaching company, Bridges In Health, specializing in bridging traditional and cultural practices with modern postpartum care.

Dr. Lau currently resides in Europe. When she's not working, she can be found escaping from escape rooms with her friends and family or indulging in horror movies and shows.
